I have installed Flash Player 8 and flashyducks no longer works
- This problem has only recently (March 2006) arisen with the release of Flash Player 8
- To overcome this problem: click here to download a fix Store it in e.g. c:\temp
- Extract the file dsducks.exe to a temporary location
- Then go to your flashyducks resources folder (probably in C:\program files\flashyducks\resources) and copy in the dsducks.exe file that you have downloaded and extracted
- This will substitute the new dsducks.exe for the old.
I get an error which says:'Error creating COM object'
Are you having problems with this on the server or the workstations?
If it is on the workstations, then flashyducks has already been installed
with the original settings from the server (the VPF Viewer settings). Try
logging on to the workstation
as an administrator, navigating to VPF Viewer.exe application on the c:\
drive and
double click on it to launch it (try doing this on the c:\
drive on the server as well). Then log out and
log back in as a normal user (that has been given access to flashyducks) and try
running the program again. If this doesn't work, you may have to remove
flashyducks from the server and install it again. Then go to Q:\Applications\flashyducks\v1.0.0.0\Windows\System32
and then double click on VPF Viewer.exe before logging onto any of the
workstations.
What type of computers can flashyducks be
used on?
- on stand alone computers (PC) in school
- on networked computers in classrooms or computer
suites; and
- on stand alone computers at home or other non-school
place where children have access to a computer with
a CD-Rom drive.
What are the minimum computer requirements?
To use flashyducks, you will require the following:
- PC running Windows 98, Windows NT4.0 or a more
recent version of either of these programs including
Windows XP with 20MB of free hard disc space;
- 128 MB of memory (flashyducks will run on
less memory but you may find some features run slowly);
and
- a processor speed of 266 Mhz or greater.
What is an interactive whiteboard?
A whiteboard is a touch-sensitive projection screen
which, when touched, allows users to control a computer.
The whiteboard acts as a large screen display, so that
all the children can see it clearly. Using one enables
the whole class to enjoy the benefits of digital resources
while preserving the teacher's role in guiding and monitoring
learning.
As you point at active elements on the board, using
your finger or an appropriate electronic 'pen' as a
mouse, the action is transmitted to the computer. The
potential advantages of using an interactive whiteboards
are:
- provide an electronic version of the same features
as a traditional whiteboard;
- offer an on-screen keyboard and number pad;
- enable editing on screen;
- enable whole-class tuition and participation.
